HOW WE BEGAN
Coordinating Committee of New York City Principals:
Dr.Jack Bloomfield was the Treasurer of the Elementary School Principals Association. At an Executive Board meeting, they were discussing problems such as School Discipline, Sick Leave and Dr. Bloomfield pointed out that they shared the same concerns with the heads of the other principals' groups. Why couldn't they get together with them? After objections that they were antagonists (over the salary differential), Dr. Bloomfield was challenged to pursue his ideas and was empowered by the Executive Board to make contact. It worked. For two years they held monthly meetings on many matters and negotiated with the Board of Education on Sick Leave and obtained results on the 5-day suspension.
The organization existed for two years. When CSA was born, Dr. Jack Bloomfield gave his records and minutes to CSA.
